‘Daffodil’ A5 canvas board

This month the Different Strokes Challenge on the Wet Canvas acrylics forum was to paint ‘macro floral’. Now I’m not much of a floral painter, and although this one was good practice it does highlight that it’s a subject matter I struggle with – I’m definitely no Georgia O’Keeffe!

Being proudly Welsh, it was somewhat inevitable that when faced with having to choose a flower, I instinctively chose the most familiar and iconic one to me.

There are a lot of issues with this painting, not least the visible pencil lines left hastily on the edges of some of the petals, but I completed the challenge and painted a subject I would not have otherwise considered.
