May

As well as doing the Wet Canvas challenge each month, I also try to work on my own, more personal paintings. While the challenges are great exercises to improve my technique, they do not satisfy my creative needs. I have a book full of pages and pages of painting ideas, and doing one challenge painting a month is not going to get me closer to finishing them and getting them out there.

Luckily for me, the challenge this month was simply ‘Nursery Rhymes’. As you can hopefully tell, I chose ‘Twinkle twinkle little star’. It’s the song I quietly sing to my son every night as I carry him upstairs to bed. Galaxies are very quick and fun to paint!

This left me time to begin the second of three self portraits that I am working on. The first one can be seen in my ‘About Me’ page above. The title of the second self portrait that I am now working on is ‘Motherhood’ – watch this space!
