Time has been scarce lately , but in just 5 days I should be moving to a new house, and that means a new studio area to design and build! Exciting to finally have some space to call my own and an area where I can work on my art whenever I have free time.
In the meantime, I’ve shoehorned some painting into the weeks by painting more loosely and on a smaller scale. First up is a quick Martian landscape inspired by the stunning visuals in the film The Martian. I only had an hour and a half total time to spend on this, but I’m sure there will be many more. If you ever get the chance to see the film then do – not only is the story fantastic, but the beautifully shot panoramas of Mars will leave you aching to break out the orange paint!
The following miniatures measure 2″ by 1.5″ and are in wooden frames that I painted in complimentary colours. Each one took between 30-60mins to complete, which makes them the perfect little project to do while the toddler naps. Sometimes it’s the little things that can be the most enjoyable, and giving yourself permission to just have fun once in a while, without getting too hung up on the finished artwork can be very freeing.
See you next month, when I will hopefully have a brand new little studio corner to share with you!
