Painting Hidden Magic ...

Gemma Beynon is a Welsh acrylic artist living and working in Bridgend, South Wales. With emphasis on revealing the unseen hidden magic in the everyday, Gemma’s work explores our relationships with each other, our environment and especially ourselves. Fascinated by people and philosophy she uses allegory and magical realism to explore our reality and loves to hide things within her paintings to surprise the viewer. Largely self-taught, she counts Magritte and Storm Thorgerson among her influences.

Recent exhibitions include the Breakout Gallery in Haverfordwest in 2021 and 2022 - a community art project that displays artwork outside throughout the town of Haverfordwest to enhance the community. In 2022 Gemma was commissioned by Ogi Broadband in partnership with Breakout Gallery to design and paint a kerbside broadband box as part of the ‘Connections’ exhibition.

In 2023/2024 Gemma exhibited work at Nolton Art Gallery Bridgend, G39 in Cardiff and Swansea MAD.

2024 will see Gemma’s largest series to date, consisting of 13 paintings, exhibited at Haverfordwest with the Breakout Gallery.
